Esie mensah biography The success of Shades found her at TEDxToronto and profiled on CBC's The Move where she spoke about her challenges navigating the commercial dance world as a dark-skinned black woman and the discovery of her creative voice. My mom had received an opportunity to work in New York, and my grandmother told my mom to leave me with her. Sarah did her first art show in I realized at that moment that I had lost who I was during my life.

Esie Mensah is an award-winning choreographer, director, dancer, movement director, educator, and TEDx speaker. A member of the Canadian Guild of Stage Directors and Choreographers as well as a two-time Dora nominated artist who has worked with megastars like Rihanna, Drake, Janelle Monae, Nelly Furtado and Arcade Fire to historic brands like Holt Renfrew, Coca-Cola, TIFF, Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto Raptors, and more.

Esie uses her voice and art to explore healing through storytelling.
